Power Consumption
2 minute read
This page provides typical power consumption data for Cruiser boards. For estimating your specific configuration’s power needs, see the Power Calculator.
Measured Power Consumption
Base Board Power (Idle)
The idle power values below were measured at the AC wall outlet (Kill-A-Watt) and include power supply conversion overhead. True DC board power will be lower. These values will be updated when DC input measurements are available.
| Model | Idle Power | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cruiser (8 PoE ports) | TBD | DC measurement pending |
Power by Configuration
These values represent typical power draw. Values will be updated with DC input measurements.
| Configuration | Idle | Under Load |
|---|---|---|
| + NVMe SSD | +3-5W | +5-8W |
| + SATA HDD (each) | +5W idle | +10W active |
| + SATA SSD (each) | +0.5W | +2W |
PoE Device Power
PoE power is passed through to connected devices. Add the power consumption of your PoE devices to the base board power.
| PoE Class | Max per Port | Typical Devices |
|---|---|---|
| 802.3af (PoE) | 15W | IP cameras, VoIP phones, basic APs |
| 802.3at (PoE+) | 30W | PTZ cameras, high-power APs, video phones |
Most PoE devices draw significantly less than their rated maximum. A “30W” IP camera typically uses 8-15W in practice. Check your device specifications for actual power draw.
Total System Examples
Base board power will be updated when DC measurements are available. Add-on device power estimates remain valid.
